METHOD STATEMENTS

A method statement is required whenever a Data Quality Rule is suggested. This will show how far the source data fulfils the Data Quality Rules requirement. Where the source data fails to meet a Data Quality Rules standard a further method statement will be required either to explain what is to be done about the data or to explain what mitigation is going to take place to accommodate less than perfect data.

  • the physical data elements involved;

  • an unequivocal statement of the rule in a format that can be measured;

  • how the current data matches up to the rule (output from the Data Quality Rules statement);
