STEP 2.2: CREATE STAGE 2 DATA QUALITY RULES

There are several types of Stage 2 Data Quality Rules exercises:

• data gap;

• data quality;

• extract, transform and load definition.

Each should be approached in the same generic manner.

• Investigate, in consultation with key Data Stakeholders.

• Optionally propose a ‘straw man‘ solution.

• Put the issue in front of the appropriate Data Stakeholders.

• Provide a venue where a solution can be thrashed out.

• Prototype and document the solution.

• Ensure that each solution (other than ‘live with it‘) has accompanying metrics.

• Work through the solution until the metrics of completion are reached or a new Data Quality Rules exercise is required.
