This image of the cerebellum was photographed with a 20x objective and a 1x eyepiece. This lens combination provides enough magnification to reveal individual cells. Köhler illumination is used for high-as well as low-magnification photographs. In both instances, it evenly illuminates the field and generates a high-contrast image.
