Allies

Allies are different from Friends or Assistants because they bond with the player in a different way. They might be your platoon comrades in an FPS game, such as Battlefield 1. They're not quite friends or fully developed characters, but they can create a realistic warfare scenario, where the battle is not centered around the player's characters and a multitude of enemies but can develop on different front lines and end up in different scenarios. The emotions connected to allies depend a lot on the player type but they usually evoke some sort of camaraderie. The player could subconsciously adjust her strategy to protect her allies or to pull out some teamwork even in games where the ally's behavior is heavily scripted and doesn't change ...
