York Region’s Innovative Engagement Methods
The Regional Municipality of York in Ontario, Canada, has used several novel approaches to get its employees engaged in improvement activity. Located just north of Toronto, York Region includes nine municipalities, and has a rapidly growing population of over 1.2 million. Its government employs a highly diverse work-force of about five thousand and oversees a budget of some CAD$3.2 billion. In both 2019 and 2020, the region was selected as one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers, and in 2021 it was named one of the Best Places to Work for New Graduates in Canada.
