The sample application that we will be developing during this book is credit risk engine. A risk engine can be described as a set of rules whose outcome is the magnitude of risk, which it calculates after analyzing some of the given input parameters. Add the term credit to this, and we can define a credit risk engine as something that calculates the risk magnitude of any given credit transaction.
