The process of evaluating the fitness of an individual consists of the
following five steps:
1) Convert the chromosome's genotype to its phenotype.
2) Evaluate the objective function.
3) Convert the objective function's value to a raw fitness.
4) Convert the raw fitness to a scaled fitness.
5) Convert the scaled fitness to an expected frequency of
selection as a parent.
Each of these operations will now be discussed.
