12.1 Vacancy Lattice Diffusion

This is a simplified model of the structure of atoms in solids which allows us to demonstrate their movement. There are different types of diffusion. The type we will be looking at is vacancy diffusion.

Different solids have different molecular structure, and some of the more common structures have a name, for example, “primitive cubic,” “face-centered cubic,” and “body-centered cubic.”
