Alternatives to Sacking

It is easy to jump to the conclusion that we should sack this person and hire someone else to do the job.
This is an expensive decision. It would cost an organization far more in both dollar costs and intangible costs to terminate an employment and find a new employee than it often does working with the person to determine what alternatives are available.
Remember, it could be that the team member is fantastic at other more important parts of their job than just this one area that they don’t know how to do and don’t want to learn.
