Navigation options

There are two additional ways in which we can configure our navigation: either through Global Sections, or through Navigation portlet.

Global sections

One of the most distinctive and popular features of Plone is the global sections (also known as portal tabs). These appear as shown in the following screenshot:

By default, you will get a new global section every time you add a new content object to the root of your Plone site. To demonstrate this, let's add a new top-level folder to our site.

  1. Navigate to the top level of your site.
  2. Select Folder from the Add new... drop-down menu.
  3. Give it a name of New Section.
  4. Click on Save.
