Added variable plots allow you to examine the effect of a specific variable, while holding the coefficients of the other variables constant. In other words, it visually describes what happens when you add one more variable to the model. It can also be seen as one way to examine a specific variable's effect, by projecting a multiple regression line onto a 2-dimensional space. In this way, you can examine which variables have more influence compared to the others.
