Chapter 3. RichFaces Basic Concepts

Sending an Ajax Request

Four basic RichFaces components exist that enable you to submit an Ajax request and then allow for a partial-page update. The components are as follows:

  • <a4j:commandLink>

  • <a4j:commandButton>

  • <a4j:support>

  • <a4j:poll>

These four basic components are from the a4:j tag library. More components exist in the rich: tag library that enable you to initiate an Ajax request, and the same concepts in this chapter will apply to them.
