Imagine a busy city street, one where a newcomer would feel immediately overwhelmed, for example, Times Square in New York City. The sights, sounds, and smells of Times Square are extremely fast paced and constantly changing. Experiencing it for the first time can be a shock to the senses, yet millions of people navigate it every day, accomplishing millions of tasks in this frenetic environment. Even tourists can navigate the area relatively easily while still managing to have a good time and accomplish their objectives. How is this possible, and how does this relate to good design and good IA?
