Dialogic literacy: A sociocultural literacy learning approach

There are many competing and overlapping conceptions of what the new literacies are (Bawden 2001). The main aim of this chapter is to outline and examine the possibilities of ‘dialogic literacy’ as a basis for pedagogic thinking in teaching, learning and schooling. Uses and forms of reading and writing have undergone profound changes over the last decade, which call for a change in the pedagogic understanding of literacy learning.
