APPENDIX A: THE MAP

Using the domains and processes within COBIT, we have created a mapping between ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011, ITIL 2011 and CMMI-SVC. Before jumping in and exploring the mapping, a few disclaimers are necessary:

 

  • Processes in COBIT are not discrete when compared to ISO/IEC 20000-1, ITIL and CMMI-SVC – you may very well “see” alternate relationships.
  • The numbers in the ITIL, ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011 and CMMI-SVC columns are based on section numbering within the source documents. Those numbers are reproduced in Tables 1, 2 3 and 4 in Chapter 2.
  • Relationships are based on process and sub-process activity descriptions in COBIT, where it is not uncommon to see activities from multiple references in ITIL, ISO/IEC 20000-1 and CMMI-SVC.
