Chapter 14. Advanced Effects
In the previous chapter, you learned how to add and adjust a wide range of effects using a relatively small number of techniques. This chapter explores compositing techniques used in the industry to adjust or replace an image on the timeline.
These techniques are known as keying and are used to make parts of an image transparent based on a specified factor, such as brightness, color, or even another image. For the most part, you apply keying effects like other effects. However, they’re distinguished both by their usefulness and by their specialized controls, and therefore they merit a more thorough treatment.
