Apache 1.3 Versus 2.0

After appropriately hardening the OS as a platform for the Apache web server, our attention now turns to the web server itself. Unlike other web servers, such as Microsoft’s IIS, there are some selection choices that must be made when deciding to use Apache. Most notably is the decision between which version fork to use: 1.3 or 2.0. The 1.3 fork has the majority of current Apache market share due in part to its greater length of existence. The 2.0 version is gaining in popularity and for good reason.
