Introducing the search expression framework

PrimeFaces 4.0 introduces a new search expression framework for referencing UI components on both the client and server side with more keywords. In addition to more keywords, the search expression framework also supports nested composite expressions as well, which gives finer control on selecting components.

JSF supports referencing UI components by using component identifiers and also provides some keywords to refer commonly used UI elements such as, @this, @all, @none, and @form.

  • @this: Represents current component
  • @all: Represents whole view
  • @form: Represents closest ancestor form of current component
  • @none: Represents no component
