This chapter focuses on the development of simulation models for filters. Filters are an important part of many of the subsystems that make up a communication system. Many of these filters are analog and must be mapped to a suitable digital equivalent for simulation purposes. A number of techniques are available for performing this mapping, all of which involve approximations and all of which induce errors in the simulation results.
