which does not include the cost of transmission lines that already exist from the previous
two units, the future costs of dismantling the plant and safely storing used nuclear fuel, and
the cost of security measures in which the U.S. nuclear energy industry has invested more
than $2 billion since 2001 [40]. A recent cost estimate for the construction of a new nuclear
power plant in the United States was $7 per watt [41], and according to an estimate in [42],
dismantling of the plant and safe storage of the waste may substantially add to this cost.
