Traffic Analysis
After you have your network up and running, you can start performing functions. You must know what kind of traffic is running on your network. Perhaps your network is slow, or you are having problems getting out to the Internet. Traffic analysis is a tedious, complex process. Without going into excruciating detail and bits and bytes, you can do a few things to see what kind of traffic is flowing on your network (or not flowing, as the case might be).
All data travels in packets, as we have mentioned. Every message you send in e-mail or every Web page you browse breaks up the data into packets. Each packet carries some bit of information about the total message, such as the sender's IP address, the intended receiver's IP address, ...
