Creating a Custom ADM File

The file association Web service enables users to go to the Internet to search for a program that can be used to read files with an extension that is unknown to the user's system. When a user attempts to open such a file, Windows XP will launch a dialog whose default selection is to go to the Internet to identify the file type and present a list of applications to the user that can be used to open the file (see Figure 4.13). Users often just press Enter before they realize what they are doing and are sent to the Internet when all they wanted to do was use Notepad to open the file.
