Radar-Based Through-the-Wall Surveillance System

The Radar-Based Through-the-Wall Surveillance System is being funded by the National Institute of Justice.[15] This system is to be used by the law enforcement community to track the movement of suspects in the interior of a building. This device will track an individual through an 8-inch wall up to a distance of 75 feet from the device. That would permit a police officer to track someone through most homes without the officer having to move. The fact that this device fits into a suitcase would make it easy for operators to move it around as they use it. According to a June 2001, Supreme Court ruling, however, this device cannot be used without a warrant.
