For most enterprise applications, getting data out of the database is at least as important as the ability to put new data in. From searching to sorting, analytics, and business intelligence, efficiently moving data from the database to the application and presenting it to the user is a regular part of enterprise development. Doing so requires the ability to issue bulk queries against the database and interpret the results for the application.
