Managed Metadata in SharePoint Sites
Terms within a Managed Metadata Service term store surface in a site collection via special site column types. Assuming the administrator has associated a SharePoint 2010 site with the term store contained in the Managed Metadata Service, content owners may add the new metadata columns to lists, content types, and the Site Column Gallery. Table 6-5 details the different Managed Metadata site column types.
