Visual Upgrade

Microsoft has adopted a no-break policy when it comes to the user interface and upgrading a MOSS 2007 farm to SharePoint 2010. By default, when upgrading the legacy farm to the new platform, the chosen configuration for a visual upgrade is to leave the UI in the legacy MOSS 2007 look and feel. This ensures that site owners and site users are not alarmed when switching over to the new SharePoint platform. Retaining the legacy look and feel is paramount when upgrading public-facing web sites, hosted in SharePoint, as Internet sites typically contain a large amount of custom branding, which should not break when upgrading the platform.
