In this chapter, you’ll begin exploring the different types of data manipulations, referred to as transformations, which you can perform on your data as it moves from its source to its destination. As Carly Fiorina indicated, our ultimate goal is to start with raw data and use it to reach a state of insight. Data flow transformations are the key to moving your raw data along the first half of that journey, turning it into usable information.
