Chapter 2. Microsoft Sync Framework Metadata
The Microsoft Sync Framework provides a comprehensive synchronization platform that enables offline and collaboration for applications, stores, and devices without agreeing on the following:
Type of data to be synchronized
Type of data store
Transfer protocols
Network topology such as peer-to-peer or hub-and-spoke
Instead, the Sync Framework agrees only on a common metadata model that enables the Sync Framework to do the following:
Achieve interoperability of synchronization
Reduce the amount of information that has to be sent between two data stores participating in synchronization
Be independent of any network topology, data type, data store, or transfer protocol
