4 Working with MIDI

 

 

4.1 Introduction

There are many Pro Tools users who will use Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) in their music production work – even when starting on a project that may end up as audio-only by the time that it is finished. It's just great to be able to try ideas out using piano, bass, drums, percussion, orchestral sounds, or vocal samples when you are working on a new composition or arrangement. Of course, there is plenty of music being recorded today using MIDI instruments, virtual instruments, synthesized and sampled sounds, very heavily or even exclusively.
