5 Recording
5.1 Introduction
A complete recording system includes microphones and microphone preamplifiers, optional signal processors such as equalizers and compressors, mixing features for multiple microphones, a recording capability with enough channels/tracks, playback facilities for existing music or for a click to play along with, playback facilities for the newly recorded music, a cueing system with headphone amplifiers and headphones for the musicians to hear the click tracks or music playback, and a loudspeaker monitoring system with a talkback system and controls so that the recording engineer, producer, arranger, or others involved in the recording can hear everything they need to and communicate with the musicians.
