13. Mixing
With Pro Tools, the mixing process can begin from the moment you start your session as you adjust the balance between tracks, pan tracks in stereo, and apply effects. After you’ve selected your best takes, finished editing MIDI tracks, and arranged the material in your session, you’re ready to shift your attention to building a final mix.
This chapter covers the use of groups to help organize a session and simplify mixing tasks. It also covers the fundamentals of signal routing for mixing, including configuring bus paths and outputs, using inserts to process audio, and using sends to create submixes and share effects across multiple tracks.
