Chapter 12. Extending the Type System

In Chapter 1, we barely scratched the surface of the PowerShell type system. We discussed how the built-in object adapters and type extensions work together to decorate existing types coming from all sources. The extended type system is not only an extension to standard .NET, COM, and WMI object types but open for further extension by anyone. We can use it to add properties and members to a live object or modify the type definition so that all objects of that type automatically get the new members.
