At this point in the risk management process you should have a short list of your most critical risks, obtained by using the process described in the previous chapter. Now you will formulate action plans for dealing with each active risk identified on the top 10 list. Finally, in the next chapter, “Step 5—Monitoring Project Risks,” you will periodically reassess all risks and consider whether inactive risks should become active or whether active risks can be closed as you mitigate them. Consequently, this short list is dynamic and will change as you progress through the project.
