8.1. Overview
In this part of the book, we examine a fictitious system that is based on a real-world system developed with the Hatley/Hruschka/Pirbhai methods. Much of the original system, which automates the biomedical analysis of various body fluids, is proprietary, so with the kind consent of its owners, we illustrate similar principles using a system we dreamed up, in which samples of groundwater are analyzed for contamination by various pollutants.
