• Constrained by regulations. Some food, drug, and government
applications may be limited by conservative regulatory bodies. No
matter how superior a product is, it may never be allowed for the
application if regulators are not moved to do so. Expensive test-
ing and lobbying may be more important to success with these
customers.
• Deluded developers. Some R&D organizations are prone to making
verbal promises to a vendor in return for the creation of specialized
products. The manufacturing and purchasing groups may not agree
to honor those terms once demand for the products ramps up.
• Tree huggers. Some customers have a business model that seeks to
court the environmentall
