Systematic procedures for recording a complete package of experimental
results:
• Decide in advance exactly what information needs to be recorded.
Include anything that may be relevant—equipment serial numbers,
weather conditions, cycle counts, and previous materials running on
the equipment prior to the trial.
• Create prelabeled data sheets for quick reading of the entries.
Group the entries logically, such as the sequence in which the
instruments will be read. Decide on the frequency for collecting
each dataset. Include a key with abbreviated terms.
