Sound production often gets overlooked by the inexperienced filmmaker because he becomes too enamored with the camera he’s using. He assumes that the microphone on the camera is sufficient. This is a grave mistake because the recording capability of an on-camera microphone pales compared to a dedicated microphone for two reasons: sound quality and versatile placement.
