Having got the information needed from the script by way of the script breakdown and cross-plot a schedule can be prepared. The schedule is the document which details what happens on which days of the production.

The most important date in the schedule is the contracted delivery date.

The delivery date is the key date.

This is the date by which the film or programme has to be delivered. Thus all the other key points in a schedule relate to this end. Generally speaking the proportion of time given to the pre-production period, the production period and the post-production period is in a ratio of 2:1:3.
