In this chapter, we focus on establishing the conditions for repetitive scheduling methods to achieve their maximum benefit, and to protect that value, in particular by neutralizing the impacts of disruption as much as possible.
Scheduling must aim to support operations by scheduling production to meet its service, cost, and cash goals in the most efficient way. And when disruptions occur, the scheduling process should enable the plant to respond quickly, effectively, and efficiently, without triggering unintended consequences.
