The release of ColdFusion 8 has brought with it some major breakthroughs in building robust solsutions that take advantage of both ColdFusion's data access capabilities and the capabilities of LiveCycle Data Services (LCDS) ES for managing data and build real-time push-enabled multi-client applications.
This chapter details some of the advances in ColdFusion and LCDS integration since the release of ColdFusion 8. Although this chapter focuses more on ColdFusion and LCDS concepts, it is worthwhile information for a Flex developer, since ColdFusion and LCDS are the Adobe-provided backend solutions for Flex applications. The following topics are covered in this chapter:
ColdFusion and LCDS integration
LCDS-specific event gateways
LCDS data management with ColdFusion
As of ColdFusion 8, Adobe has provided some features to further the interaction capabilities of ColdFusion and an external LCDS server. To take it even further, Adobe has given the user the ability to install an integrated copy of LCDS during the ColdFusion installation.
Although the entire ColdFusion installation process will not be covered, the section of the installation specific to the integrated installation of Adobe LCDS will be covered.
During the ColdFusion 8 installation, you are prompted to select the integrated technologies you would like to install. Here is where you can specify ...
