Configuration Using GenericSetup

GenericSetup (http://plone.org/documentation/tutorial/genericsetup) is the CMF team’s answer to Seaver’s Law. In particular, it solves the translation-of-settings challenge, and simplifies pre-configuration of persistent objects on the site map.

Each configurable component (such as a tool) provides a pair of handlers for importing and exporting its state in an XML format. At any point of time, a particular profile is active.
