Connecting Plone to an LDAP Repository

To use LDAP from Python, we must first install the python-ldap module. This can be downloaded from http://python-ldap.sourceforge.net, or installed using your operating system’s package management tools if applicable.

To use LDAP in Plone, we will need few add-on products. First, get the appropriate version of the PloneLDAP bundle from http://plone.org/products/ploneldap. This contains three Zope 2 products: PloneLDAP, LDAPUserFolder, and LDAPMultiPlugins. As before, you can either add the relevant download URL to the [productdistros] section of a buildout.cfg file, or extract the products to the products/ directory of your buildout or instance.
