Chapter 9. Testing With CETK
Ingenious design may yield interesting products. But no matter how ingenious, it's difficult for products to be successful if they can't perform all their intended functions consistently.
Although it's a time- and resource-consuming process, testing to validate the product's ability to perform consistently is vital. It makes good business sense to incorporate testing checkpoints throughout the development process, to validate design features and maintain the quality of the development.
Windows Embedded CE Test Kit
The Windows Embedded CE Test Kit (CETK) provides an easy-to-set-up test environment, with a suite of useful testing tools, provided as part of the Platform Builder installation.
The CETK test kit helps minimize the time and resources needed to perform testing. A developer can set up the CETK test environment quickly without having to dig through piles of documents and spend hours configuring and tweaking the testing environment. The CETK test kit comes in a ready-to-use configuration, with preconfigured tests and common testing parameters.
The CETK's ease of use and setup does not mean that it's a lightweight testing environment. Its tests are thorough and provide credible test data in a standardized report format that can meet rigid testing requirements and provide useful documentation for the project. Microsoft's Windows Embedded product team uses the same CETK tests to perform BSP testing for its BSP certification program. BSPs that have been ...
