Chapter 7

OS Design

WHAT’S IN THIS CHAPTER?

  • Developing an OS design project
  • Customizing the OS design and generating a run-time image
  • Generating an SDK to support application development

Developing an OS design is an integral part of the Windows Embedded Compact development process. The OS run-time image for the target device is generated from an OS design. The SDK, needed to support application development, is also generated from an OS design.

This chapter provides information about the OS design and associated components. The exercises in this chapter show the steps to create an OS design project, compile an OS run-time image for a target device, and generate an SDK to support application development for the target device.
