USING THE AUTOLAUNCH COMPONENT
The AutoLaunch component is created to ease the tasks needed to launch one or more applications during Compact 7 startup. With this component, you can configure the Compact 7 device to launch multiple applications during startup and control these applications’ launching sequence using configurable time delay to launch each application.
The AutoLaunch component is developed and packaged as a Compact 7 component and can be easily added to an OS design project, from the component catalog, and compiled as part of the OS run-time image.
As of this book’s writing, the AutoLaunch_v200_Compact7 component is the latest version, available from the Codeplex site at the following URL:
Work through the following exercise to configure MyVPC OS design to launch the PB7_Win32.exe executable during startup with help from the AutoLaunch component:
1. Continue with the MyVPC OS design from the previous exercise; from the Catalog Item View tab, select and include the AutoLaunch_v200_Compact7 component in the OS design, from the \Third Party\Embedded101 folder.
2. From the VS2008 Solution Explorer tab, double-click OSDesign.dat to open this file in the code editor window.
3. Remove the following entry, entered as part of the previous exercise.
4. Append the following registry entries in the OSDesign.reg file:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Startup] "Process0"="PB7_Win32.exe" ...
