ETHERNET BOOTLOADER (EBOOT)

The Ethernet bootloader, Eboot, is a network bootloader designed to download Compact 7 OS run-time images from the development station to the target device over a network connection. The Eboot bootloader cannot function on its own. You need to use another bootloader to launch Eboot.

When launched by another bootloader (Loadcepc or BIOSLoader), the Eboot bootloader performs the following tasks:

  • Acquires an IP address from a DHCP server
  • Broadcasts a BOOTME packet to initiate connection with a Platform Builder development station
  • After establishing connection with the development station, initiates a Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) session to download Compact 7 OS run-time image from the development station to the device
