REMOTE TOOLS
Platform Builder for Compact 7 includes the following suite of remote tools, which you can use to access the target device remotely to help with debugging the OS run-time image as it executes on the target device:
- Remote File Viewer
- Remote Process Viewer
- Remote Profiler
- Remote Registry Editor
- Remote Resource Consumer
- Remote Resource Leak Detector
- Remote System Information
- Remote Zoom
- Remote Timeline Viewer
- Remote Kernel Tracker
- Remote Performance Monitor
- Remote Power Monitor
To use these remote tools to debug a Compact 7 OS image on the target device remotely, the OS image must be generated with KITL enabled, and an established KITL connection between the Platform Builder development station and the target device.
A proper KITL connection between the Platform Builder development station and Compact 7 target device requires the following:
- KILT driver for the target device, which should be provided as part of the BSP
- Bootloader with KITL support, which should be provided as part of the BSP
- Connectivity between the development station and target device with KITL support, which can be an Ethernet, Serial, or USB interface supported by the target device’s KITL driver
To support the exercises for the later section in this chapter, you need an OS run-time image with KITL and profiling enabled. If you did not work through the exercise in Chapter 7, “OS Design,” to create the MyCompact7 OS design project, review Chapter 7 and create the OS design project.
