TARGET CONTROL

The remote Target Control is a useful tool that enables you to send commands to control the target device remotely, launch programs, view running processes, terminate a running process, display contents from memory block, and display memory usage from the target device.

To review the Target Control remote tool’s features, download the KITL-enabled OS run-time image to the target device. After the image launches on the target device, from the VS2008 Target menu, click Target Control to bring up the Windows CE Command prompt window, as shown in Figure 9-22.

Display Target Device Running Processes

From the Windows CE Command Prompt window, you can enter the following Target Control command to show running processes from the target device: gi proc.

After this command executes, the Windows CE Command Prompt window displays all running processes from the target device, as shown in Figure 9-23.

Launch Internet Explorer with Target Control

From the Windows CE Command Prompt window, you can enter the following Target Control command to launch Internet Explorer on the target device: s iesample.

After this command executes, Internet Explorer launches on the target device.
