WINDOWS EMBEDDED COMPACT REGISTRY FILES
In a Compact 7 OS design project, there are multiple registry files for different OS design components. During the build process, these registry files are copied to the build release directory where the registry entries from these files are combined into a single file, REGINIT.INI, to be included to the OS image during the make image phase.
The COMMON.REG registry file contains a large collection of default registry entries for OS components, which are included as part of the Platform Builder software. Registry entries for each OS component are wrapped between a SYSGEN variable, which Platform Builder uses to control whether to include the registry entries in the OS design.
The COMMON.REG file is in the following directory: $(_PUBLICROOT)\COMMON\OAK\FILES.
The PLATFORM.REG registry file is from the BSP for the current OS design, which includes all the required registry entries, to support device drivers and configuration settings for the target device. Registry entry in this file supersedes entry in the COMMON.REG file.
The PLATFORM.REG file is provided as part of the BSP, in the following directory: $(_PLATFORMROOT)\<BSP directory>\Files.
