“Why wasn’t I informed about this?”—the plaintive cry of a manager (not
a leader) who has just found out some disturbing news. e true answer
is, “Because I didn’t think it would help!” at is not usually the “right”
answer, because the question is more accusatory than information-
seeking. Oen, the manager asking the question is angry—and we all have
learned that it is a dangerous thing to engage an angry person, especially
if he or she is your boss!
